Inspiring Leaders

Discovery is a one of five key stakeholders of strategically lead the Inspiring Leaders partnership, a likeminded group of teaching schools and trusts who come together to provide leadership development and training for school leaders in the region. The partnership was established in 2012 as a licenced provider of the National Professional Qualifications in School Leadership. The partnership is made of colleagues from:

  • Redhill Trust & TSA
  • Flying High Trust & TSA
  • Transform Trust & TSA
  • And other supporting partner trusts & alliances.

The partnership

The partnership shares a collective belief that great school leadership has the power to transform children’s lives. This is delivered through utilising the experience and expertise of practicing school leaders of today, we endeavour to develop confident, ethical and aspirational school leaders of the future.

As a strategic partner Paul Stone acts as Director of the group helping shape the partnerships strategy, operational success and seeking new opportunities for the partnership to develop. We also ensure that other Discovery leaders play a role in the development of programmes and events so that Discovery can shape the delivery of programmes to work for our schools.

 

Leadership training

Inspiring Leaders is a leading provider of school-based leadership training, licensed by the DfE to deliver NPQML, NPQSL, NPQH and NPQEL across the East Midlands and Yorkshire regions.

What does Inspiring Leaders do?

Inspiring Leaders has evolved to offer a number of outstanding opportunities to our trust and schools including:

  • NPQ programmes in Middle, Senior, Headship and Executive Headship
  • Opportunities for School leaders to become trained facilitators and lead on programme delivery
  • Leading an annual residential leadership conference which play a large role in shaping so it benefits our schools
  • Access to a MAT Leaders network where we can learn from others organisations inside and outside of the sector
  • Research trips both with the UK and oversees to explore how others lead in different contexts and to expand our thinking.
  • Create an engaging and challenging community of leaders who can help us to continuously improve

The partnership is of great value to Discovery and ensures that we continue to improve year on year.

How does this support Discovery

Every member of staff is provided with an ongoing career planning dialogue with their line manager. This process helps individuals, school leaders and Discovery to plan for people’s development needs and build the right CPDL for our staff. We ensure that all teachers are given the opportunity to access NPQ programmes each year and since 2012 have had over 100 staff access these qualifications. We know that the impact of this for our schools is well trained, research informed leaders who make the best decisions for our children. Knowing we have a through flow of leaders also helps our trust to manage talent and create opportunities for people to progress within our schools.

The training received by Inspiring Leaders helps our trust to build capacity and learn from experts in the system. This access to training and insight helps to add value to Discovery and school improvement capacity.
