Discovery has applied to the national free school programme to open a primary school, with pre-school and a specialist resource centre for Autism to open in September 2023, in the Kibworth-Fleckney-Great Glen Area. We have applied to open a new school so that we can fulfil the rising demand for school places at Kibworth C.E Primary School and ensure are able to meet the demands of a growing village.
The school’s preschool provision will ensure our children have the very best start to their school journeys. When children make a good start to their education, their chances of success increase exponentially and will be staff by highly experienced early year practitioners.
We also expect to have a specialist resource centre for around 10 pupils who may need specialist teaching to fulfil their potential. Our specialist Autism provision will be fully inclusive for those pupils who attend and be integrated throughout all areas of school life.
The compelling values that drive our work are accompanied by excellent pedagogy, vibrant curriculum models, responsible governance and accountability. We thrive to attain excellent standards of pedagogy throughout all our schools under our core values of excellence, respect, partnership, integrity and altruism. Discovery has established systems and practice models based on this ethos which is shared with all our communities including parents, carers and agencies that also work with the children and young people at the schools.
Effective leadership is at the heart of a school’s improvement journey, through informed support to ensure that curriculum and teaching remains of the highest standard. This new school will be included in our networks with our existing staff to focus on pupil outcomes, pupil enrichment, curriculum design, assessment and innovation. We also aim to open the school with pre and after school care to support working parents and would form a school advisory board at the earliest opportunity to seek community views and parent voice.
